Previous weekend (27th-29th of June) was a special day for our new outgoing
students. They all gathered to Väike-Maarja in order to prepare themselves for
their exchange year. 67 future Exchange students and 26 volunteers participated
in this important event.
Subjects discussed included cultural differences, dealing
with homesickness, YFU’s rules and life in an exchange family. Volunteers
shared their tips and advice and offered solutions for possible problems. Many
practical games were played as well: students had to show their skills in
photography, acting, aerobics and in addition to this, coping in dangerous
situations. Students were very active and interested. By the third day they
already had a feeling of belonging.
In conclusion the workshop was a success and our new exchange
students are now prepared for the exchange year! Wish them luck!
