The 4th of June is the Estonian flag day!

We all know that every country has its own unique flag and that by its colours and specific design we are able to recognize and distinguish between countries.

In the early days flag-like pieces of cloth (sometimes ribbons for example) were used to present the cultural symbols of each tribe or union and to distinguish them from others. The first flags were flown in the 18th century to tell others that they own of a piece of land and that they rule over the people and land. Today flags are the symbol of the independence and nationalism of each country. Flags help make us unique in this world and also unite us – the colours and symbols of the flag are close to the heart of every citizen!

Let us be proud of our flag and honour it :)
